F A Q's

What do you do exactly?  I attend your child's party and fade into the background.  My purpose is to be the family friend who takes good pictures and keeps the focus on your family & friends.  I take pictures of everything from blowing out the candles to the piņata to just good old playtime.

How many pictures do you take?  The number of pictures varies depending on your preferences, the location and number of children present.  I generally take an average of 100 pictures per hour.  I find it is better to take more and have plenty to choose from rather than miss a precious moment.

How are the pictures delivered to me?  Within about a week after the party you will receive a high-resolution photo CD with all of the party pictures in JPEG format.  It is compatible with any photo printing service that can accept pictures on CD.

Are the pictures subject to copyright protection?  The pictures are yours to use however you wish.  I strongly believe that pictures of our children should be under our control.  Therefore, I hold no copyright to any of the pictures taken at your party.  I do have a Release Form which my clients sign either granting or denying me permission to use their pictures for promoting my business.

Do you take family pictures?  I take group pictures as part of my party photography services.  I specialize in the fun, action pictures of children discovering and enjoying their world.  Sometimes, I get to capture their joy of playing with a family member.  Other times, we do posed group shots.  However, I do not do specialized family/individual portraiture.

What recommendations do you have for the birthday mom?  I have several based on my experience attending birthday parties over the past 10 years:

    1.    Eliminate "cheese" from your picture-taking vocabulary.  This practice tends to create unnatural smiles.  Instead, choose something that makes your child smile, like "ice cream".  Then, catch the picture when they are smiling thinking about the yummy goodness.

    2.    Let your child explore without your input.  Of course, you must supervise.  Just let them lead the way.  The best pictures happen when the child is in the midst of a personal discovery.  I love taking those pictures and they are usually the favorites of the moms who receive them.

    3.    Relax.  Sounds simple and I know all too well how hard it can be.  However, the more stressed you are the less fun you and your birthday child will have.  That is one of the reasons I believe my service is so valuable.  It is much easier to relax when one less thing is on your plate.
